17 Jan11: Hanoi Arrival

Upon arrival, our private Vietnam tour guide and driver will welcome your Vietnam Holiday, pick up and transfer to the hotel for check in. Hanoi, a city where the exotic chic of old Asia blends with the dynamic face of new Asia. Where the medieval and modern co-exist. A city with a blend of Parisian grace and Asian pace, an architectural museum piece evolving in harmony with its history, rather than bulldozing through like many of the region’s capitals. Hanoi is where imagination becomes reality.

18 Jan 11: Hanoi City Tour

Hanoi without a doubt a beautiful start for your Vietnam Tours. Today we enjoy a full day city tour of this charming capital city including the mausoleum of the nation's founder Ho Chi Minh (close on Monday & Friday), the Presidential Palace, the Ho Chi Minh's house on stilts, the One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, the impressive Ethnologic Museum.

In the afternoon, visit the interesting flower market for Tet where you see Vietnam's beautiful flowers, bonsai, kumquat tree... to see how people are eager and prepare for Tet before coming back to the old quarter, walk around and experience the breath of Tet in each family and people's face.

In the evening, we enjoy a fantastic traditional water puppet show. Free at leisure and overnight in Hanoi.

 

19 Jan 11: Hanoi – Halong Bay

Halong Cruise must be the most beautiful tour in Vietnam for any visitors to Vietnam. This morning, after breakfast, we drive to Halong Bay (165km), Vietnam most scenic sight, a recognized World Natural Heritage Site and highlight of any Vietnam Tours. Upon arrival, board your traditional wooden junk. Welcome drink on board. After a relaxing break, enjoy a delicious seafood lunch while cruising through the wonderful Ha Long bay visiting its amazing grottoes and caves. Opportunity to dive off the boat and have a pleasant swimming in the deep blue water of East Sea before relaxing on your sun deck to view a Halong sunset.  Dinner on board with excellent fresh seafood.

20 Jan 11: Halong Bay – Hanoi  & Train to Sapa

People describe Halong Bay as majestic and mysterious, inspiring and imperious and words alone cannot do justice to the natural wonder that is Halong Bay. Imagine 3000 or more incredible islands rising from the emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin and you have a vision of breathtaking beauty. Halong Bay is pure art, a priceless collection of unfinished sculptures hewn from the hand of nature and it is said that your Vietnam Tours will not be complete without a trip to Halong Bay and spending one night on romantic Halong Cruise.

This morning, let get up early to catch the sunrise on the bay, doing Ta Chi on sundeck and relax with a cup of hot coffee or tea when the boat cruising to explore more of Halong Bay. All makes your Indochina Holiday with full sweet memory. Back to Halong city at around noon where Vivutravel's private guide and driver are waiting for the transfer back to Hanoi with a stop to visit Tho Ha ancient village to experience the unique Tet Holiday preparation and how people in the countryside, village eat Tet. Back to Hanoi and transfer to the train station for the overnight train to Lao Cai. Overnight on train.

 

21 Jan 11: Lao Cai – Sapa

Arrive in the early morning in the border town of Lao Cai where it's a short transfer to Sapa. In the terraced hills and mountains of this area, the monotony of the expansive green landscape is enlivened by the colours of its hill tribe population. It is here you will find hands stained with colour from fabric dyes and shades of blue, red and green intricately embroidered and stitched into jackets, waistcoats, pants, skirts, caps, purses and leggings.

 

After breakfast at a local restaurant, take a morning walking tour of Sapa for a visit to the busy market where Red Dao, Black & Flower H'Mong, Tay and other ethnic minority people converge from the surrounding countryside to sell their silverware and handicrafts, and to buy provisions. Afterwards, we will do one of the most beautiful Sapa Tours by driving to visit Lao Chai and Ta Van village of the Black H'mong and the Day people where you can enjoy fresh air, amazing scenery of the imposing mountain range, trek down world's most beautiful terraced rice fields, visit some local family on the way and learn unique culture and life of these ethnic groups. Back to Sapa by private car, free at leisure for the rest of the day. Overnight in Sapa.

 

22 Jan 11: Sapa – Bac Ha Market

The markets in the Northern Vietnam are always the colorful meeting places for the hill tribes. Minority people come down from the mountains to sell their products, or just for catching up on the latest news, gossip, drinking away troubles or seeking for lover.

In the morning, drive to visit the most interesting and famous market in Bac Ha. This is the last market day of the year and a really a special time to visit. Ethnic groups such as Flower H'Mong, Nung, Day... coming to the market with beautiful traditional clothes, the market is a festival, people are happy to buy, sell, drink, shop... After lunch, we will take a walking visit at H'mong King Palace and Ban Pho village of the Flower H'Mong and Nung ethnic minorities. Continue to Lao Cai and stop at Lao Cai border gate for a short break to walk to Thuong Temple or take some memorial photos before we take you to Lao Cai train station for the overnight train back to Hanoi.

 

23 Jan 11: Hanoi Arrival & Departure

Upon your arrival at the train station, met by our driver and guide and transfer to a mini hotel for shower and breakfast.
