ITINERARY
Day 1: Bangkok Meet & Greet with your tourguide at Bangkok Airport. Transfer to Prince Palace Hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to adjust to time and temperature. Possibility for afternoon or evening optional tour. Overnight at Prince Palace Hotel ***+ or similar
Day 2: Bangkok Meals: B
Day at leisure. Recommended Optional: Optional Full Day Tour “Bangkok Classic”: Visit Wat Traimitr, Grand Palace/Wat Phra Keo, Wat Po and Klongtour including lunch. Overnight at Prince Palace Hotel ***+ or similar
Day 3: Bangkok – Aytthaya – Kamphaeng Phet Meals: B, L + Guide American Breakfast at hotel.
Continue via Nakhon Sawan to Kamphaeng Phet. Lunch at a local restaurant. In Kampaeng Phet we visit the Kampaeng Phet Historical Park with the remains of ancient sites such as Muang Chakangrao and Muang Nakhon. Overnight at Chakungrao Riverview Hotel***, or similar
Day 4: Kamphaeng Phet – LamPang – Chiang Mai Meals: B, L + Guide American Breakfast at hotel.
Lunch at a local restaurant. Proceed to Lampoon. Visit the famous Wat Haripoonchai in Lampoon built in 1157. It is one of the most sacred monuments in the north, with fine lacquered doors, one of the largest bronze gongs in the world and two fine Buddha images in bronze. Continue to Chiang Mai. Overnight at Empress Hotel ***(*), Chiang Mai or similar.
Day 5: Chiang Mai Meals: B, L + Guide American Breakfast at the hotel.
Optional: Enjoy an elephant ride (Baht 600.- p. p / subject to change). From Mae Rim, drive up to Chiang Mai’s mountain landmark of Doi Suthep, with a visit of Chiang Mai’s most revered temple “Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep”, situated 1056 m. above sea level. The view from the top is spectacular. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit some workshops of local craftsmen that put Chiang Mai on the world map (silk, woodcarvings, silver, jewellery, lacquerware etc.). In the evening you have the possibility to visit the famous Chiang Mai Night Bazaar on your own. Overnight at Empress Hotel ***(*), Chiang Mai or similar.
Day 6: Chiang Mai – Sukhothai – Phitsanulok Meals: B, L + Guide American Breakfast at the hotel.
Overnight at Amarin Lagoon Hotel***, Phitsanulok or similar.
Day 7: Phitsanulok – Bangkok Meals: B, L + Guide American Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning visit Phitsanulok’s most sacred temple “Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat”, housing Thailand’s most beautiful Buddha-statue “Phra Buddha Jinarat”. Depart from Bangkok for Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand. The principal sights are the gigantic bronze statues of Wat Monkol Borpith, the three ancient pagodas at Wat Srisanpetch and Wat Na Phra Men.
Departure via Tak for Lampang, visit Wat Phra Dhat Lampang Luang housing the only Emerald Buddha besides the one at Wat Phra Keow in Bangkok.
Early morning visit an Elephant Camp, where you can see the elephants in their natural jungle habitat, showing their abilities as forest workers.
Leave Chiang Mai for Sukhothai. Visit Sukhothai Historical Park, Thailand’s most impressive temple ruins where the foundations of present-day Thailand and the Thai alphabet originate. The vast complex houses plenty of chedi’s, temples and Buddha statues constructed in laterite stone. Lunch at local restaurant. Continue to Phitsanulok, the capital of Thailand’s lower North and crossroads of the Indochina junction.
