Travelling in Vietnam in high season

The low season for international tourist arrival in Vietnam is from May  to September when it is hot, humid and stormy. However, it is over and the high season is from October to April just started.

If you are planning to travel in Vietnam during this high season, Vivutravel advises you to have everything sorted out as quick as possible. The best way is to contact a local Vietnam tour operator, but if you are travelling by yourself, it is essential to note the following.

The beach resorts in Vietnam at An bang beach in Hoi An, Danang beach, Nha Trang beach, Mui ne beach, Con Dao island, Phu Quoc island will be fully booked very soon, especially during Christmas and New Year Eve. If you want to stay some last days on your Vietnam holiday at one of the mentioned beaches, just be quick!

Tet festival or Vietnamese new year falls on 16-18 Feb 2018. If you want to experience this unique festival, we advise to travel in Vietnam 1-2 weeks before it happens so that you can see colorful markets, streets and exciting preparations. During Tet, it is quite boring, shops closed, restaurants closed, not many actitivies to be seen.

When it comes to the cost of your Vietnam travel during Tet, it is more expensive than normal. Tourist companies will have to pay double for the services such as tour guide, transpportation, etc.

1-2 weeks before and after Tet, it is very difficulte to book the domestic fligh tickets and it is not recommended to travel by train, too crowded. The best way is too book a Vietnam private tour far in advance with local travel company for smooth arrangements.

If you have to obtain a visa to Vietnam, it is not possible to have the visa done during Tet. The holiday will take a week. Therefore, you have to check carefully and apply for Vietnam visa one month before your arrival.
