How many days to visit Angkor?

Reborn from the Khmer Rouge regime, Cambodia is now a country of peace even though tourists can still see the pains and scars everywhere in this kingdom of wonder. Located in the Southeast Asia, neibouring with Vietnam, Laos and Thailand, Cambodia is blessed with rich culture, unexlored beaches especially the Angkor temples - the largest religious complex of the world.

To be honest, Cambodia does not have natural beauty as Vietnam, nice beaches as Thailand, but Angkor temples are unique and will be a big regret if one does not visit a a lifetime.

When it comes to a visit to Angkor, the question is how many days are enough to visit Angkor temples? The answers are from 2 to 3 full days. With 2 full days, tourists can visit the main and most famous ones. With 3 full days, tourists may get sick of temples.

Here are our suggested temples to visit:

Day 1: Angkor Wat (Sunrise tour starts at 05:00 AM), Ta Prohm temple, Banteay Kdei temple.

Day 2: Angkor Thom including Angkor Thom south gate, Bayon Temple, Baphuon temple, Phineanakas temple, the royal palace, the Terrace of Elephants, Terrace of Leper King before ending this beautiful day with walking tour to BakHeng temple to enjoy Sunset over the Angkor.

Day 3: Other smaller temples are worth visiting such as Ta Som temple, Neak Pean temple, Banteay Srei temple, etc. However, this day 3 normally combine with a visit to a floating village on the Tonle Sap lake, or Phnom Kulen waterfall.

The temples of Angkor are impressive and will definitely make you surprise by all aspects from architecture, history to culture.

During your holiday in Siem Reap, Vivutravel highly recommend that you reserve Apsara dinner show to enjoy traditional Cambodian music and dance especially the charming Apsara dance. Koulen restaurant apsara is popular.

Nightlife in Siem Reap is exciting for the young. The Pub Street is lively with loud music from early evening to midnight.

Conclusion: If you are planing a tour to Southeast Asia, Cambodia and Angkor temples must be top listed. If you have special interest for Cambodia, 10 day tour is a nice package to discover the best of Cambodia. If not, Vivutravel highly advise you to combine with Vietnam in a 12 to 18 day tour which will be much more beautiful.
