In the last few days, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director General of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism told VnExpress about "How to save Vietnam tourism" and the future of Vietnam tourism after Covid-19.
How to save Vietnam tourism?
Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and tourism sectors are calling to promote domestic tourism, finding ways to promote tours, destinations and asking domestic airlines, hotels, travel companies to offer big discounts from 20%-70%. The slogan is "Vietnamese people travel Vietnam".
At the time of writing, all tourist sites in Vietnam re-open, tour activities get back to normal. However, this is a difficult year and people will spend less money on travelling. Furthermore, school holiday will be shortened. Most families can travel within a month from Mid-July to Mid-August 2020, but with a population of about 100 millions, Vietnam tourism will survive if government, local authorities, tourism sectors and the people join hands with each other.
When will Vietnam reopen for foreign tourists?
Domestic travel is a restart while preparing to welcome international visitors. Firstly, Vietnam will wait and see how is the Coronavirus pandemic going then consider when possible. A safe tourism corridor between 2 or 3 countries is a great idea.
From now to the end of 2020, Vietnam will target domestic market, but will reopen for countries that control Covid-19 well such as China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Newzealand, etc.
In early months of 2021, Vietnam expects to welcome tourists from EU, UK, North Africa, but how to travel safe to and in Vietnam is a question. A health certificate can be considered.
At the moment, it is time to refesh ourselves, renew tour products and prepare to welcome international tourists back.
