Vietnam plans to open the international tourism market

The General Department of Tourism is discussing with the Vietnam Tourism Association to step by step open the international tourism market to each specific group of tourists and countries

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong - Deputy Director of the General Department of Tourism - said "will not open massively" at the seminar "Nesting for domestic eagles" held on March 5 in Quang Ninh province.

Regarding the policy of opening the international tourism market, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong said there will be selecting criteria, will choose source markets, packaged tour,  convenient destinations and choose independent tourist resorts to open its doors and receive international visitors.

With the same point of view, Mr. Nguyen Manh Tien - deputy director of the External Relations Committee of the National Assembly - also said that with many closed tourism groups that have been invested throughout the country today, ministries and branches should soon propose to the Government. The Government has issued standards and criteria to restart tourism in safe areas.

In the ASEAN countries, Thailand is planning to open the tourism market to those who have "COVID passports", so Mr. Nguyen Manh Tien suggested that Vietnam should resume the tourism industry as soon as possible. .

It is known that there are 2,300 tour operators and about 3,000 tourist accommodation establishments nationwide. The tourism and related services industry has been significantly affected by the COVID-19 epidemic.
