According to the latest guidance, international tourists to Vietnam must be fully vaccinated (2 doses of vaccine), test negative, go on a package tour and have travel insurance.
This is temporary guidance on piloting international arrivals to Vietnam, divided into 3 phases. International tourists or foreign residents participating in the pilot program need to meet four conditions.
1. Travelers to Vietnam must have a certificate of 2 doses of Covid-19 vaccine, recognized by the competent authority in Vietnam (not applicable to children under 12 years old). In which, the time of injection 2 has passed 14 days and not more than 12 months pior to your departure. Travelers who have already recovered from Covid-19, need a confirmation with a hospital discharge time of no more than 6 months by the time of departure.
2. Traveller must have a negative nCoV test result by RTPCR/RT-LAMP method within 72 hours before departure. The certificate is certified by the competent authority in the country where the test is performed.
3. Travellers need to have health insurance, including coverage for Covid-19 treatment with a minimum of 50,000 USD.
4. Travellers must follow the travel agency's packaged tour program.
During their arrival in Vietnam, visitors will be tested on the first and seventh days (for travelers over 7 days). In addition, all are recommended to self-test every 2-3 days, with a rapid test kit.
5 localities will welcome international guests in November
Phu Quoc, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Da Nang and Quang Ninh have been approved by the Government to welcome international visitors this month.
On the afternoon of November 2, the Government Office announced the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh approving the pilot route to welcome international guests, as proposed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Accordingly, Vietnam reopens to the world in three phases as below;
Phase 1 (from November), welcome guests according to packaged tour programs through charter flights and international flights in selected areas and travel service establishments in Phu Quoc (Kien Giang province). ), Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Quang Ninh.
Phase 2 (from January 2022) expands and connects destinations in the 5 mentioned localities. Visitors can visit these places after the first 7 days of local travel.
Phase 3 is fully open to international visitors. The starting time will be based on the epidemic situation and the results of the two phases above.
Vietnam travel updates
Up to now, Vietnam has temporarily recognized the "vaccine passports" of more than 70 countries and territories around the world.
According to the guidelines, tourists can travel Vietnam with a maximum duration of 90 days, a minimum of 7 days. After completing the tour program for at least 7 days, visitors can continue to participate in the packaged tour program in other localities that are allowed to welcome other international guests, without having to wait until January 2022 to be allowed to go to another authorized tourist destination as previously instructed.
According to information on the COVID-19 vaccination portal, as of 9 am on November 8, the total number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine in Vietnam has exceeded 90 million. Nationwide, the rate of injection of at least 1 dose of vaccine is about 83% and the rate of 2 doses is nearly 40% of the population aged 18 years and over.
