Whichever type of vacation you're looking for as a family, Vietnam will deliver everything your family would want from a vacation. That's whether you want ocean cruising and lying on the beach, or if you'd relish the adventure of trekking off-the-beaten-track and staying with a Vietnamese tribe in the central highlands.
Getting to Vietnam involves either a direct flight or flights broken up with a short stopover in Hong Kong, Bangkok or Singapore, this makes it a little friendlier for families.
Once in Vietnam, travel is uncomplicated. The country has been well versed in welcoming foreign tourists for the past 20 years. It's very easy to navigate and get around, which opens up the entire country to you. Regular internal flights offer access from Hanoi in the north to central Danang and Ho Chi Minh City in the south.
Check out our recommendations on what you could do on your family vacation in Vietnam.
Hanoi
Hanoi is the perfect place to start your family vacation. It can work as a central base and give you the chance to experience Northern Vietnam, which means your transfers to excursions won’t be as far.
Hanoi is much more of a ‘Vietnamese’ city and you will have plenty of beautiful streets to wander and take in the culture. In the evening the locals gather in the old quarter and you can enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Live music and fresh street food await you.
We can also arrange a city tour for you, where you can view the historical colonial architecture, there are many hotels to suit all kinds of budgets. If you want to take an excursion why not take the family to Halong Bay and the surrounding countryside.
Halong Bay
Halong Bay is just a four hour transfer from Hanoi and it is known for it’s thousands-strong limestone islets scattered around the bay.
We can arrange for a private junk boat for all of the family to stay in, you could stay for one or two nights to give you more time to explore the lesser known fishing villages and beaches. You could even swim, kayak or walk around the islands.
Hoi An
If you want to travel a little further, why not give Hoi An in central Vietnam a visit. It’s an hours flights from Hanoi, all of this can be arranged by your tour guide.
Hoi An dates back 500 years and is a fishing village first habited by the French and Dutch. It still offers many architectural gems, especially the beautiful Japanese covered bridge, which dates back to 1590s.
Not only can you enjoy the culture, you can also stay on one of the white sandy beaches, with over 15km on its doorstep, you will be spoilt for choice. There are plenty of boutique hotels available for every budget and where your family will enjoy. Many will organise activities for children.
The city is cobbled and traffic free, so it is safe and easy for the family to wander and enjoy a stress free life.
Ho Chi Minh City
Further down South and another flight, you will be brought to the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh City.
The best way to explore the city is via a Vespa tour; they are suitable for children, both young and old. Your safety is paramount and we can ensure you are equipped with everything you need to enjoy the ride with your family.
You can then walk around and explore the sprawling city streets, stopping at local restaurants and music venues. For history and culture you can visit the Cu Chi tunnels, a set of underground passages used during the Vietnam war.
