NINH BINH

HA GIANG

The emerald-green karst mountain landscapes along Ha Giang mountain passes make this far-north province prime territory for scenic road-tripping by either motorbike or car.

In particular, the twisty Quan Ba pass between Ha Giang town and Tam Son provides panoramic vistas of the karst plateau and its jagged limestone outcrops, while the zigzagging Mai Pi Leng pass between Dong Van and Meo Vac offers dizzying views of the lush mountain scenery and narrow valleys below.

PHONG NHA

Hang Son Doong, among the world's biggest caverns, can be found deep inside Phong Nha-K Bàng National Park and is easily the most famous natural attraction in Vietnam. HUE

CON DAO ISLANDS

Con Dao Island, the largest and most convenient home base for tourists, is known for its long stretches of sandy shoreline, which draw sunbathers and scuba divers in search of a tranquil tropical retreat. Most of the Con Dao Islands and the water around them are protected wilderness areas. Turtles nest on the island shores, and the island interiors still have thick forests.

PHU QUOC ISLAND

Phu Quoc is an island in the Gulf of Thailand, 45 kilometres off the country's southern coast. It is covered in thick forests and has long stretches of white sand beach, making it a popular destination for sunbathers during the dry winter. Underwater and on-water tourist attractions on the island come alive during the dry season, with several diving sites in the waters near offshore and chances for kayaking, snorkelling and boat tours.
