Ninh Binh is the capital city of the province of the same name. It has a population in excess of 130,000 and tourism is becoming an increasingly important part of the local economy. However, it does not mean that the priority in the region is to provide a sophisticated nightlife. It remains a city based upon industry as well as functioning as the provincial capital
Frankly, few people consider the nightlife when they plan a visit to Ninh Binh during their Vietnam holiday. Tourists go there to appreciate the stunning natural environment and may actually decide on an early night because of the potential delights that the next day will bring.
Some who stay overnight stay at one of the 5-star hotels such as Emeralda Resort Ninh Binh or Ninh Binh Hidden Charm are likely to take advantage of their hotel’s facilities and not venture out. Vissai Hotel in the city centre actually brews its own beer, light as well as dark. Some tourists may decide that a nice Vietnamese meal in a local restaurant, sampling the local beer at the same time is quite sufficient. Local restaurants are all likely to be open until 9.30pm or 10 pm.
There are one or two pubs where you can mix with the locals, one of the real pleasures of a comprehensive Vietnam travel package. There are places such as New Life Club or T-Pub to try and you may also fancy a spot of karaoke which a local guide can help you to find. There are ways to amuse yourself before it is time for bed.
Draught beer has become increasingly popular in Vietnam. Bia Hoi is the cheap locally-produced beer that varies in strength up to 4% and because of cost, locals often drink several glasses a day after their work is done. Another drink, even more local is sugar cane based, served with ice.
