Ao Nang

Overview
Ao Nang has the one of the busiest beaches in Krabi. It was the backpackers who first found it but now it has reached a wider audience and those on Thailand family holidays might like to consider it because there are charter flights bringing tourists to its doorstep. There is plenty of accommodation, good restaurants and the developed infrastructure that covers everything a family might need. Those who are a little more adventurous can still explore Krabi as well. A great time is guaranteed.

How to get there
Krabi International Airport is 40 minutes by car but those on organised Thailand tour packages will have all transport organised for them. There are direct overseas flights into Krabi but also excellent domestic connections with Bangkok with flights and transfers bookable at one time.

West Railay and Ton Sai are minutes away by boat and there are public ferry services as well.

Best time to visit
The monsoon season is May to October but the compensation then will be it is less crowded. High season is around Christmas time.

Things to see and do
The beaches are popular of course and this Thailand travel guide suggests these two as the first to look at:

• Nopparat Thara Beach is picturesque; it is on the western tip of Ao Nang. There are some islands you can reach at low tide but wear some footwear if you plan to walk.
• Rai Leh Beach is only accessed in a long boat though in low season you will have to wait for them to fill up before they will leave.

Those with energy to burn can go kayaking on the sea, take an elephant trek or visit the Hot Spring Waterfall and Emerald Pool where they are certainly able to relax.

There are island tours with Railay and the Phi Phi Islands as just a couple of options. The Phi Phi Island are 2 hours away by long boat, 50 minutes by speedboat.

Rock Climbing is popular and even some beginners can try. Likewise scuba diving and snorkelling lets you see under the waves rather than lying and looking at them. There are caverns, the chance of seeing shark and manta ray as well.

Accommodation
Thailand travel packages will arrange accommodation according to their clients’ wishes. There are guesthouses, resorts, bungalows and hotels in most price ranges. If you are looking for a holiday in Thailand some time on a beach is a ‘’must.’’ Perhaps Ao Nang?
