Tam Coc has long been known as one of the best places to visit in Ninh Binh province, a wonderful day trip from Hanoi which is jusy 100km away. A tour to Tam Coc normally includes 3 boat trip to explore 3 caves, Hoa Lu ancient capital, Thai Vi temple and a cycling trip to visit Bich Dong pagoda.

The best time to visit Tam Coc is from May to early June when the ripening rice fields show its beauty. Photograhers choose this time to hunt for amazing pictures and tourists will be impressed and happy to see "a Halong bay on the rice fields".

There are many local restaurants right infront of the Tam Coc Wharf like The Long, Anh Dung, etc. Menu is in both Vietnamese and English.

To avoid crowds, try to come there earlier or later than the others.

To visit all the highlights of Ninh Binh, you need 2 full days. Hoa Lu ancient capital, Trang An grottoes, Bai Dinh pagoda, Van Long natural reserve, Kenh Ga floating village, Cuc Phuong national park or Phat Diem church are our suggested sites.
