Vietnam and Cambodia combine to make a memorable Indochina holiday which begins in Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital that combines a wealth of historical and cultural attractions. It finishes a fortnight later over the border in Cambodia with a visit to the Angkor Complex and the wonderful Angkor Wat. In two weeks, you will enjoy the best of what these two countries have to offer without being rushed at any point. The content includes rural life and time on the water, the beautiful Halong Bay and the Mekong River which is navigable up into Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
Hanoi’s traffic is hectic yet it still retains the charm of a much smaller city, narrow streets and wide boulevards, colonial architecture and traditional wooden housing. There is time to explore Hanoi and enjoy a trip east to Halong Bay on the coast where you can cruise between the numerous limestone islands and marvel at your surroundings.
Returning to Hanoi, you then take a short flight to the old imperial capital of Hue. There is time in central Vietnam to explore Hue before continuing on to Hoi An, a port during the Champa Kingdom that existed for centuries from the early Middle Ages. This Indochina travel package then reveals rural life and the life of a village fisherman. One of the great joys of travelling in Indochina is to meet local people and see their daily lives.
Onwards by air to Ho Chi Minh City, you can visit the Vietcong’s Cu Chi Tunnels before heading into the Mekong Delta, the most fertile region of Vietnam. Finally leaving Vietnam, you head north to Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital, up the Mekong. You will see the highlights of Phnom Penh before the short flight to Siem Reap, finishing a wonderful couple of weeks by visiting the UNESCO World Heritage site of Angkor and Angkor Wat.

An Amazing and Stress-free Trip to Vietnam and Cambodia My boyfriend and I planned a 2-week vacation to Vietnam and Cambodia (stayed in Vietnam for 11 days and Cambodia for 3 days) with Vivutravel. The trip went SO smoothly and stress-free with the planning and help from Ngoc our agent. We started planning our trip about 1.5 months before our flight to Vietnam and it took about 1-2 weeks to finalize our plans. We wrote up all the things we wanted to do and see and Ngoc implemented them into a detailed agenda and even writing in recommendations that we could choose from. She helped us with quotes and costing out the different options we can do and then helped create all the reservations so we didn't need to worry about it. We used Vivutravel for our hotel bookings, cruise booking, transportation via car and 3-day travel guides. First off, everyone we encountered from Vivutravel was incredibly kind and polite as well as spoke excellent English. Our drivers were always very charismatic, on-time and made us feel very safe driving through Vietnam. Our guides for Ninh Binh and Siem Reap were SO knowledgeable and polite as well. They taught us so much in a short time period. I think they really made the experiences more than what we thought they could be because they were so passionate about their country and what they were teaching us. I definitely recommend having a guide in Siem Reap to help you navigate through all the temples and learn the history of each one. Ours was AMAZING. The only hiccup (if you could even call it that) was when we realized that our driver pick up time wasn't an exact hour detailed on our itinerary. We were scheduled to be picked up in Hue to be taken to the airport in the afternoon... Which could mean literally any time (we didn't want to spend our time waiting in the lobby of our hotel when we could be exploring the city or relaxing) So I wrote Ngoc a quick email to ask what exact time our driver was going to pick us up and she responded within a half hour. She was VERY fast. Future reference for that... if you don't have access to internet or phone communications, I recommend making sure ALL driver coordinations are confirmed with actual times before setting off on your trip. Overall... I would book my travels through Vivutravel again. They made the coordination painless and easy especially since neither of us spoke Vietnamese. Having Ngoc write out our detailed plan made our dream vacation a reality.
Hi Ngoc, We had an incredible experience to Vietnam and Cambodia. Vivutravel definitely made it a very smooth and easily coordinated trip. I have to say, everyone from the organization that we encountered were all extremely friendly and polite. They translated the languages all very well. The guides that we had in particular were amazing. We learned so much on the days that we set up guides. Especially, in Cambodia. Our guide was amazing and taught us so much about all of the temples in Siem Reap. We could have definitely have done this trip on our own but I don’t think we would have learned nor done the trip quite as well as the guide had planned for us those days. Big thanks to the tour guides! I think if there’s any room for improvement (I think everything went smoothly and great) it would be to ensure that we had all the right information before the trip (down to the pick up and drop off times) since we don’t always have phone service or wifi. I think if those details were a little more clear there would be a lot less anxiety around what time we would need to be ready by for the pick up. Otherwise, I think everything was great. Thank you, Alexandra Nguyen and Brandon Kolk
Trang at Vivu Travel in Hanoi discussed various tour options with us before we decided on this one. Right from the moment we were met by our Hanoi guide, Hoang at the airport everything went well. The Capital itself and Halong Bay were a great start to the holiday and the longer it went on, the more wonderful experiences we gathered. Our photographs bring back so many memories. We enjoyed the trip so much and Vivu Travel will be the first company we talk to about making the arrangements.
We cannot speak highly enough of Vivu Travel in Vietnam’s capital, who made all the arrangements for us. Trang was our first point of contact with Vivu Travel and she went through the alternatives the company could offer and then this tour in more detail once we expressed a real interest in it above others. From our point of view, we saw it as a means of seeing most of Vietnam, with a time to relax on the beach at the end, but also an introduction to Cambodia, Siem Reap and Angkor, the UNESCO World Heritage site. We were not disappointed at our choice for a moment. We wholeheartedly endorse Vivu Travel as a company that can introduce Indochina to tourists and we are likely ourselves to go back to see more in the future.
We walked out of Hanoi Airport to be met by Duy from Vivu Travel who had organized our holiday in Vietnam and Cambodia. It is something neither of us will ever forget. We enjoyed mixing with the people whether they were market or food sellers, farmers or fishermen. We couldn’t understand a word of what they said, and they didn’t understand us but it didn’t seem to matter. There seemed to be a permanent smile on everyone’s faces and that includes our two guides, Hoang and Lien. There is so much diversity in these countries, and we enjoyed our time on the water, Halong Bay and the iconic Mekong River as well as the narrows streets and open countryside. Our friends are very envious of our photographs and memories; our answers are the same. Get in touch with Vivu Travel.
When I spoke to Lan at Vivu Travel, she talked about the various tours that the company ran. Balancing our budget and time available with our wish to see as much as possible of Indochina, we chose two weeks in Cambodia and Vietnam. We’d seen many photographs of such places as Halong Bay, Angkor and the Mekong but to actually see them was a real experience. We were guided through our holiday by staff employed by Vivu Travel, and in every case, the guides did a great job; Bang, Thao and Huong. Our two drivers, Bao and Chau made light of the busy roads that I couldn’t contemplate driving on myself. Having enjoyed that so much, we intend to talk to Lan again in the hope of returning soon. There is so much more to see in South East Asia and having made contact with Vivu Travel, we know we can rely on the company to help us.
We packed a great deal into two weeks. Using short air flights, we were able to cover much of Vietnam and Cambodia in a short time, yet we had sufficient time on the ground to see many of the highlights of these neighbouring countries. I have to say without Vivu Travel, it would have been difficult. We were met and guided every step of the way and all the promises that its consultant in Hanoi, Duong, made to us when we first spoke were fulfilled and more. It was a holiday we will never forget. Hopefully, we will be back soon.
I rarely write reviews on anything, including holidays but in this case, I felt I had to share our experience of the quality of Vivu Travel and the holiday it provided for us in Vietnam and Cambodia; it was magical. We had a good feeling about the trip after our initial discussions with Huong in its Hanoi Office and so it turned out. The whole holiday was well-organised and the memories of the places we saw will last a lifetime. It would be wrong to pick out highlights; there were so many. What we would both say is go and see for yourselves and talk to Vivu Travel if you decide to do so.
A special anniversary deserves a special destination. Wendy and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary recently, and our decision to do it in Vietnam and Cambodia only made it an even more special occasion. We contacted Vivu Travel after a recommendation from a friend and spoke to one of its consultants, Kim. She suggested three different tours that met our budget and we finally picked this one because it gave us the chance to see Angkor as well as the main destinations in Vietnam. A good holiday in a strange country depends on the detail and we both agree that not only were all the arrangements in place as we arrived at each new location but the staff that looked after us, driver, Tuan and guides, Hanh and Trung were great. Everyone at Vivu Travel has our very sincere thanks and who knows? The 25th is an even more special anniversary so we could be back for another visit.
I’ve worked in different parts of Asia in my time without ever getting the chance to see much away from work. Now that I have retired, I don’t dread getting onto an aeroplane any longer because when I do, I know it is for a holiday. I’d passed through Vietnam to work offshore though I had not seen the many things that seem to be attracting more and more tourists. I decided to join them and asked Vivu Travel in Hanoi to arrange things. My final choice after discussing things with Thuong at Vivu Travel was a trip including both Cambodia and Vietnam. I knew the streets of Hanoi but little else and thoroughly enjoyed the many things my guide showed me, especially the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta not to mention the food though I didn’t try all the local specialities. Here’s to the next Indochina holiday with Vivu Travel.
This was our introduction to South East Asia and we’ll be back. We contacted Vivu Travel in Hanoi, discussed our budget and asked for ideas. The company made a few suggestions for us to look at further and our choice of visiting two neighbouring countries, Vietnam and Cambodia, was instinctive; would we see any differences between them? Perhaps our time in Cambodia was too limited to make any judgements but we were delighted that we picked this tour as our first venture to this part of the world. The Highlights? Well, every day there was something new and each night we reflected on what we had seen, and looked forward with anticipation to what the next day would bring. Our guides, Quang in Hanoi, Linh in Hue, Do in Saigon and Bunleap Heng Siem Reap were great, the food stunning and the whole experience leaving us ready for more. We’ll be talking again to Vivu Travel.
We arrived home, I would like to thank you very much for the wonderful trip you arraigned for us with the magical views, places and peoples in Vietnam and Cambodia. It was a great pleasure working with you and your guides around the places. I hope to come again soon to your region and be sure I will use your services again. Thank you very much and hope to see you soon The Factor's family
Hi Kim, We had a great trip thank you. It was very well organised and everything worked perfectly. In terms of feedback, I think you already did a great job. The only thing I would recommend would be: Organising to listen to the audio service provided at the killing fields. However our guide was very good, it may have been nice to walk around on our own there.
I sent Vivutravel inquiry, asking for the price of this tour, but with some changes because my wife wanted to finish on Phu Quoc island. Hoai at Vivutravel was super star! She sent back the detailed itinerary in an hour with price, which i were very impressed. However, it still checked around with some other tour operators in Vietnam, but they were not as good as Vivutravel so i confirmed my holiday with Hoai without any hesitation. I was right! we had great time and really satisfied with Vivutravel's arrangements. Thanks Hoai, you are the best!
