cmabodia vietnam holiday in style

You start your Indochina holiday in Cambodia, Siem Reap to be precise because this is the gateway to Angkor, one of Asia’s most famous destinations. It was a complex that was being recaptured by the jungle at one time but these days it is a much-visited place that deserves time. This is the Cambodian leg of your Indochina travel package because from here you take the short flight to Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) to start your journey from south to north with Vietnam. There is much to see and do over the next 9 days.

The ancient Khmer capital of Angkor Thom, and the area’s most structure, Angkor Wat, make a spectacular start to your time in South East Asia. The problems in Cambodia have long gone and tourist numbers have risen dramatically. You will learn more about Angkor and Siem Reap before the short flight to Ho Chi Minh City in the south of Vietnam.

Ho Chi Minh City is the commercial hub of Vietnam and the ideal gateway both to the Cu Chi Tunnels made famous during the Vietnam War and to the Mekong Delta, a fertile area of fishermen, farmers and floating markets where their produce is sold to individuals, wholesalers and large food processing companies.

Central Vietnam is next on your Indochina tour, a flight into Danang near the coast to see Hoi An, an ancient port and Hue, the capital of the Nguyen Dynasty during the years of the French.

Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Halong Bay complete your holiday; overnight on a boat in the Bay and street food in the Old City of Hanoi are just two of the experiences you will have as your Indochina vacation comes to a close and you prepare for home.

We were attracted to this tour because it provided a flavour of Cambodia as well as plenty of time to explore Vietnam in some detail. We were able to save a little holiday from last year so that we had three weeks’ available and after talking to Ngoc at Vivu Travel, we were convinced that this was the holiday for us. Vivu Travel handled all the arrangements, even providing us with a visa service so there were no queues on arrival and our guide, Thao, met us after we came out of the airport at Hanoi. It was the beginning of a great experience that we will never forget. We have plenty of photographs, and minds full of memories for which we thank Thao, and our driver, Hung, who negotiated the busy roads brilliantly when we were in Hanoi. We were able to cover quite an area because of the availability of flights throughout the holiday so we were never tired and had plenty of time to relax anyway. The cookery class was certainly a highlight for my wife; she enjoys cooking at home and now has some more ideas for dinner.

We were able to grab a weekend away after our wedding but being school teachers, any longer holiday had to wait until the end of term. We wanted somewhere different and having read positive things about Vietnam, we decided to do some research. We found Vivu Travel by looking for recommendations online, and after talking to one of its consultants, Duong, finally opted for a 12 -day break that took in Cambodia as well. It turned out to be a great choice. Every arrangement was in place and we were able to cover the main highlights of Vietnam after visiting the wonderful Angkor Complex in Cambodia. 10 out of 10 to Vivu Travel. We will be back for more.

I had back-packed through Vietnam some years ago and my girlfriend had been pressing me to take her there, though in more comfort so I booked a tour with Vivu Travel that took in Siem Reap and Angkor in Cambodia before covering the main highlights of Vietnam. It was a great trip thanks in no small part to Vivu Travel in Hanoi and its staff, Do, the guide, and Tan, the driver, who made our trip so comfortable and relaxing. Among many highlights, we both decided that the night on Halong Bay stood out. It is little wonder that it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was fairly busy by day but by night it was great to sit in peaceful surrounding over dinner, enjoying the stars in a clear sky. Hanoi itself was a great way to end our holiday. We’ll be back because there seems to be so much more to see throughout the region and Vivu Travel seems to have most of it covered very well indeed.

We live by the sea so we can look for different types of annual holidays with the kids. When we looked at Vietnam as an option, the boys were enthusiastic and it is always worth tapping into teenagers’ enthusiasm so we decided to talkwith Vivu Travel in Hanoi, specifically one of its consultants, Ha, and our holiday started in neighbouring Cambodia. What a great decision it was on all counts! I’m a great believer that education involves more than the classroom and over the years we have been able to take the kids to places that have opened their minds to the lives of others, places they have read about in text books. Cambodia and Vietnam definitely fall into that category. Angkor was a great place to start before our flight to Ho Chi Minh City started our Vietnam leg. The kids loved the Cu Chi Tunnels while we enjoyed seeing the Mekong and the floating markets at a time they would have preferred to be asleep. Central Vietnam was a surprise to us all because we knew so little about it. Both Hoi An and Hue were interesting, and the guide, Trung, excellent, before we headed north. It goes without saying that Halong Bay stunned us all while Hanoi is arguably the most vibrant city any of us have ever visited. Thank you, Vivu Travel, for showing it to us, and organising everything so well.

We contacted VivuTravel with an approximate itinerary and time line and a description of the type of travel that we enjoy. Ms. Ha began working with us with this suggested itinerary and continued advancing appropriate suggestions until we finalized a trip that suited our desires. She was excellent in keeping us informed throughout all the processes and was very helpful in rearranging the itinerary partway through the tour as we realized certain activities would be more suitable for us. As we were to fly out to Hanoi severe weather in Hue caused the closure of the airport and alternative arrangements were made for us at a cost to VivuTravel. We are grateful for the professional and prompt way in which the situation was handled. Daily transport to/from airports and throughout the activities was excellent. All the hotels were of a very high standard in excellent locations. All drivers were excellent, safe and courteous. We marvelled at their skills in the traffic. All the guides were excellent, very knowledgeable, considerate and friendly. They were excellent at arranging our schedule based on arrival times, weather, and other factors to ensure that we got the most enjoyment from our visit. Several stood out from the rest: Mr. Phuc in Hue – very friendly, informative in history, culture, local events. A severe storm hit Hue while we were there and Mr. Phuc soldiered on to make sure we got to see everything. There was extreme flooding and the airport closed due to the weather and he made sure that alternative arrangements were made for us and kept us well informed throughout the whole situation. We consider it a privilege to have become acquainted with a person of his quality. Mr. Siya in Siem Reap – again a person of exceptional knowledge and friendliness. It was like having a close friend show us around. We will definitely come back!!

This is our first trip to Southeast Asia and it took me months to decide where to visit. I contacted Vivutravel and Trang gave me some options. However, She advised us to combine Vietnam and Cambodia as it would be a nice trip, which sounds wonderful and i had nothing to regret. This 12 day tour showed me the best of what Vietnam and Cambodia have to offer. Vivutravel is simply the best! I recommend them to anyone we know in the Uk.
