My boyfriend and I were on a 2-week culinary tour of Vietnam. Our guides were great and passionate ambassadors for Vietnam. They always shared so much knowledge with us about Vietnams history, it's culture, Buddhist and Hindu religions, the people and ways of life in many generations of life. Every cookery school was different with different styles of teaching and ingredients. We found the classes easy to follow and always left with plenty of food. Our tour guides always made sure we were on time and our drivers made us feel safe. The red bridge cookery school really stands out and you get to wear aprons and shop for fresh ingredients at the local market. Walking around the cities after the classes was a good way of unwinding, Hue was a highlight for me as you really felt part of Vietnam history. You can take additional tours if you want too, but we found walking around in our time was better for us. A great way to experience a country with so much culture and get to learn something at the same time.
As we had a budget, I was very apprehensive about using a tour guide, however Vivutravel were able to meet our budget and include so much more than we anticipated. My wife is an avid cook, so we decided upon a culinary tour. The tour was going to take in all of the main destinations in Vietnam. We started in HCM and thoroughly enjoyed our first cookery class at the Saigon cookery centre. Our guide ensured we were well prepared and arrived on time. We must say a special thank you to our driver, Mr Tuan who was so professional, HCM was not easy to drive in. The red bridge cookery school in Hoi An was exceptional. The chefs were friendly and spoke very good english. The highlight for me was Halong Bay, after all the cooking it was nice to relax in a beautiful location and cool down with a local beer or two. Oh yes, you must try Vietnamese coffee, it certainly is an acquired taste, but be warned its very strong! Great tour, lovely country and exceptional tour guide.
Food glorious food! We booked a culinary tour with Vivutravel and spent 13 glorious days between HCMC, Hue, HoiAn and Halong Bay . From start to finish this was an exceptional experience, made especially so by our excellent guides. The organization by VivuTravel was first class. Pick ups were always on time, restaurants, transport and hotels were all first class. All of our cookery classes were so professional and we got to indulge in some of the most amazing traditional food. The chefs were all trained professionally and spent time sitting down at the end of the class answering any questions. We always left with plenty of food. Our guide in Hue, Mr Thanh was exceptional, especially when I left my camera at the cookery school, he went back and got it for me without any trouble. Thankfully my pictures were not lost. Great experience and certainly recommended to anyone with a love of culture and food. Vietnamese food is healthy, tasty and I cannot wait to cook it at home. Thank you Vivutravel and everyone involved.
Vivutravel cooking tour is definitely the one and only tour that offers you a haven of peace and serenity away from hustle of the city but you can experience the city at the same time, it is a perfect mix. The cookery classes allow you comfort and serenity while cooking amazing Vietnamese dishes and enjoying their delicious food. For each of our classes we were picked up in the morning at our hotels and headed straight to local markets, where we bought all the ingredients, which was so interested. On one class we went by boat on the river to the cooking class, each of us had our own place to cook and made all the four meals on our own, which was perfect. Every city also offered a chance to walk around at leisure and enjoy some of the local culture. Our tour guide in Hanoi Mr Tiep was so helpful and recommended museums and places where we could walk to from our hotel. The cookery classes were a highlight for us and great value for money. Well organised by Vivutravel.
Great holiday, great tour and even better food! If you want to experience culture, history and learn all about a country vastly undiscovered then this is the tour for you. We chose Vivutravel as a friend recommended them. Thankfully everything went to plan and we felt very safe in their hands. Our drivers were all very good, with special thanks to Mr Chau who was very patient when I got car sick!! Cookery classes were great, even though we felt like we squeezed too much into our tour, we cannot complain at everything we got to see. From boat trips to learning all about Vietnam history, we left with loads more knowledge about Vietnamese life and food. Next time we would take more time to relax and enjoy some of the sights. We found some of the places very touristy, but we still enjoyed them. We would use Vivutravel again, but this time take one of their relaxing tour holidays.
We could not decide whether to start our tour from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh city, but eventually decided we wanted to see the hustle and bustle first and end the tour in a Hanoi. HCM was fabulous and so diverse. The cookery class was well organised and we made some incredible rice dishes. The Vespa tour was a bonus and my boyfriend LOVED it. Hoi An is colourful and the night markets are huge, BUT always be prepared to haggle as they expect it. You get to the Red Bridge Cooking School by rive boat and arriving to the class was so exciting and the scenery just lovely. Our guide Mr Thanh came with us and made sure we had everything, like bottled water which was really sweet. All the chefs at the cookery classes were so professional and spoke very good English. In Hue we got to see the Thien Mu Pagoda, so colourful and peaceful we were blown away. Ending the tour in Hanoi was great as it is a little quite and we left feeling relaxed and ready to cook some delicious food at home - we cannot wait to show off to our friends. Thanks to everyone at Vivutravel.
