Hi Tuan
Well firstly we are now home and I am back to work, Ugh!!
The trip went very well indeed and we loved it. Everyone was very well organised and we were met on time by everyone concerned and all the arrangements went to plan.
The hotel in Cambodia was excellent much better than we had expected.
The guide was knowledgable and also was funny. Clearly the country is very very poor and needs tourists to bring in some more money a great contrast from Bangkok and its much more obvious wealth. The evening with the dancers was not quite our scene and we could not see much of it however it was well run and the staff were very pleasant but a bit too big and impersonal for our taste.
We loved Hanoi more than Saigon as there was so much to see and to do there in the old quarter.
Hoi An we adored and would love to go back a truly delightful place. Ancient House Resort was lovely a lovely pool and gardens just our thing.
Again Halong Bay boat was far far better than we had expected. The squid fishing village visit did not happen and the squid fishing from the boat was just us and one other couple and the boat staff were not very interested in it at all however the guide on the boat was brilliant.
The guide that took us there and met us the next day who took a photo. of us was BRILLIANT we loved him and on the way back from the boat he took us to a temple where we saw NO Europeans and we felt like film stars with everyone wanting to be on a photo. with us, it was truly lovely and he was great I think the best guide that we had.(He should do well in the tourist industry and has all the right qualities to succeed)
The dreadful things shown in the museum about the war were so sad but good to see and to remember what life is all about and I only hope that all those young people looking around will look and learn from the dreadful things that we all saw.
The tunnels were fascinating and the guide being older brought to the visit another deeper side to what we learnt and what we saw.
We loved the Mekong boat and the fruit farm visits although I don't think rice wine will make it to the top 100 wines of the world!!!
Martin, my husband runs wine tasting classes here at home and tonight we will sample some rice wine, let's wait and see the comments!!!
Phu Quoc we were quite tired when we got there and VERY pleased to have booked 4 nights but wished we had booked a whole week. We have stayed in many similar resorts to Mango Bay in Thailand however the food at this resort was superb, the staff were exceptionally good but most of all there was NO plastic and rubbish on the beach or in the sea which was for us fabulous and the swimming was wonderful.
We would love to return and would this next time do
Hanoi
Halong for more than one night as it was lovely and relaxing
Hoi An
Mekong
Phu Quoc
Thank you all for your efforts in making this a wonderful visit and we wish your company much success with the UK market in the future.
With very best wishes
Martin and Lesley
