Review of our 17 day tour of Vietnam

Our 17 day tour of Vietnam organised by Ngoc from Vivutravel was superb and we got to experience a wonderfully diverse country with so many fascinating places. Our trip started in Hanoi, staying in the rambling Old Quarter, where we got to sample fabulous street food including steaming pots of phở broth and bún chả while exploring Hanoi’s café culture. We learnt a lot about the history and culture of

Vietnam from our entertaining guide Andy, with our trip to Ninh Bihn and boat trip to explore Tam Coc making for an interesting day.

A highlight of the trip was our Ha Long Bay cruise, sailing the emerald green waters among thousands of rugged islands and islets - watching the sun set over the calm waters before enjoying an exquisite dinner prepared by the talented culinary team.

Our travels took us to Hue, where our fabulous guide Ty greeted us and amazed us with her vast knowledge of Vietnam’s last royal dynastic family during our ventures exploring the Imperial Citadel and the Kings’ tombs. We finished this leg of our journey in beautiful Hoi An, climbing over the Pass of Ocean Clouds before arriving and exploring the ancient town.

Our final destination was the bustling cosmopolitan metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City. Our delightful guide Bao took us to many well-known attractions, including the Cu Chi Tunnels, where we explored the tunnel maze and various war relics, the Reunification Palace and the War Museum and introduced us to broken rice (cơmtấm). We spent a day exploring the Mekong Delta and had a fabulous lunch at a riverside restaurant, which featured the local specialty of elephant-ear fish.

We finished our trip with a few days on Phu Quoc, a splendid tropical getaway where we could relax and unwind after our truly fabulous holiday!
