Good afternoon Tuan
It was so good to meet you when we were in Han Noi earlier this month. Also thank you for the 2 bottles of wine which travelled with us to Phu Quoc Island and also the photograph you sent.
As usual, your arrangements were first class. The timings were good and all the guides excellent ( we remembered Mr. Do from one of our last visits ). Can you please also pass our thanks onto Ms Le Kim Dung for all her hard work. We will of course eventually put our thoughts on TripAdvisor.
The Cua Dai Hotel in Hoi An ( our choice ) was excellent for our needs and a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the old town. The Deluxe rooms were well furnished and extremely comfortable ( we saw standard rooms which we thought were a bit small ). However, the hotel needs a little attention especially around the swimming pool area, some parts were dangerous. The hotel only serves breakfast which was fine. Hoi An itself has changed considerably since our last visit and the south bank area has become very noisy and commercialised. I hope the town does not loose its charm by expanding too much.
Medallion Hotel in Ha Noi was excellent and very well positioned - only a pity we did not stay for longer.
Cassia Cottage in Phu Quoc ( our choice ) this hotel FAR EXCEEDED our expectations. The beach front location is superb, the rooms are laid out in tree lined grounds, the 2 swimming pools are excellent. The best thing about Cassia Cottage is the staff - they are so friendly, sincere and can not do too much for you. Every day they serve a free cocktail at 4.30pm and their beach buffet is superb. This hotel IS NOT for everyone - it is tranquil, a reasonable distance from town but walking distance to some local shops and restaurants. There are no televisions and it is certainly not a lively location, most people are in bed by 10.00.
I believe that negotiations are ongoing for Phu Quoc to become a visa free zone and for direct international flights ( some already coming from Russia ). If you hear any future news on this can you please keep us informed as this would help us to plan our Vietnam holiday much better.
Again thank you for your help and best personal regards,
TERRY HAINES (Travel Vietnam in Feb, 2014)
